Aplikasi Pembelajaran Edukatif Bahasa Isyarat pada Sekolah Luar Biasa (SLB Negeri Kota Ambon) Berbasis Flutte

Abstrak

Indonesian Sign Language (SIBI) plays an essential role in enabling communication for individuals with hearing and speech impairments, yet limited public understanding of SIBI remains a significant barrier to inclusive communication, particularly in special education institutions with limited numbers of specialized
teachers. This study aims to design and develop an Android-based educational application that presents SIBI learning materials-covering the alphabet, numbers, animals, vehicles, family terms, food, greetings, and time-related vocabulary-in an interactive, visual format. The application was developed using the Flutter framework with Firebase as the backend for efficient and flexible media storage, following the Waterfall model of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), consisting of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, and testing stages. The
application was implemented and tested directly at SLB Negeri Kota Ambon, involving teachers, students, and parents as end users. Functionality and usability testing indicate that the application is easy to operate, provides an engaging and accessible SIBI learning experience, and is well received by all user groups. With its simple interface and interactive multimedia content, this application is expected to increase public awareness of SIBI, support independent learning for students with hearing impairments, and contribute to greater social inclusion.
